BENEFITS OF GREEN BUILDING DESIGN
The U.S. Green Building Council's definition of Green is "a high performing home that's energy and water efficient, has good indoor air quality, uses environmentally sustainable materials and also uses the building or site in a sustainable manner."
Now that we all understand the definition of green building, let's take a closer look at a few elements which will comprise the term green building. There are different degrees of green building that offer some challenges as well. For instance, green building in a remodel condition would differ from a newly constructed home. The Bush administration has continued to reject actions to reduce global warming pollution. It has refused to require cuts in heat-trapping carbon dioxide pollution, significantly raise fuel economy requirements, or hold companies accountable for improving their energy efficiency using wind, solar and other renewable energy sources.
In his final FY2009 budget request, President Bush accurately reflected his administration's low priority for environmental help. Again, President Bush stripped critical funds protecting America's communities and natural resources, and instead rewarded dirty industries. All of this followed his State of the Union Address touting his commitment to advance clean, renewable resources ...
